Detour Over

I am happy to report that we are back in the hospital!  That may sound bad, but we are now back on course with the treatment.  I'll take it.  Enough detours.  No more scenic routes.  No more being the exciting medical case.  Let's just get in, get it done, and get out.

J has his Blue and Gold banquet with his cub scout troop and is set to receive his Arrow of Light award and cross over into Boy Scouts.  That is this coming Thursday night.  We told the oncologists about it and we came up with this slightly unusual schedule.  We came into the hospital last night (Saturday) at about 9:30 pm (nice time for a scheduled admission).  His nurse and the resident assessed him and he was off to sleep at about 10:30.  He hasn't had any chemotherapy yet, but that will happen later this morning.  We came in last night so they could give him IV fluids and make sure his kidneys were in top working condition.  They are primed to work.  He peed every hour or two.  He woke me up every hour or two.  That's fine. Small price to pay.

He has not complained of any pain at the incision for several days.  He also hasn't had any pain down in the pelvis for several days.  It's hard to know for certain, but he was probably having pain in the pelvis from the tumor for maybe up to a month before we found it, and between the surgical biopsy, the tumor shrinking down, the abscess forming, the two surgeries, he has not been free from pain in that area probably since the beginning of the year.  But there is no pain there now.

Moving forward now.  I think our quota on complications is full.  Hope and pray for some smooth sailing from here.
